About the Treatment

What is Chemical Peel Treatments?

A chemical peel is a controlled skin resurfacing procedure that improves skin tone, texture, acne, pigmentation, and signs of aging. A specialized chemical solution is applied to the skin to exfoliate damaged layers and stimulate regeneration. There are three primary depths: Superficial peels affect only the outer layer of skin and are commonly used for acne, mild pigmentation, and dullness. Medium-depth peels reach the epidermis and upper dermis and are used for more significant sun damage, pigmentation, and fine lines. Deep peels penetrate the deeper dermis and are typically performed in specialized surgical settings. The appropriate peel depth is determined during consultation based on skin type, goals, and medical history.

Your Experience

What to Expect

On the day of treatment, medical history, consent, and candidacy are reconfirmed. The skin is cleansed and degreased to ensure even penetration. The chemical solution is applied in controlled layers. The provider carefully monitors skin response and clinical endpoints. Cooling compresses may be applied to reduce heat and discomfort. Superficial peels typically take 15–30 minutes. Mild redness may appear immediately after treatment. Superficial peeling usually begins within 2–3 days and resolves within about one week. Medium-depth peels involve more visible peeling over 5–10 days.

Candidacy

Ideal Candidates

You may be a candidate if you want to improve acne, discoloration, sun damage, uneven texture, or fine lines and are willing to follow strict pre- and post-care instructions. You must be medically appropriate and able to comply with sun protection and aftercare requirements. You may not be a candidate if you have active skin infections, open wounds, pregnancy or breastfeeding, history of keloid scarring, recent isotretinoin use, or unrealistic expectations.
